Awesome sunny weekend

Hello all!

Hope this finds you well. Had a great weekend. Went out for my friend Kamila's B'day to this lebanese restaurant called Moana's. It was sooo much fun! Beautiful food. It's all decked out with drapes hanging from the ceiling, couches, rugs and pillows galore everywhere. Has a turkish look to it even though it's lebanese. They had a live belly dancer there. Kamila was loving it as she's taken belly dancing lessons before. We all got up on stage and danced the night away. This 80 year old lady that was there was up on stage with us dancing all night. Good on her!

On Sat, went to the movies and saw American Dreamz. It was good but not hilarious as I was expecting it to be. Usually Paul Weitz is a really good writer. He did About a Boy (one of my fav films). Then I went to my friend Hailey's house and watched a DVD. It was a rather chilled out night. Watched Proof with Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman. Very funny and sweet. Bit of a chick flick.

Sunday, just went to my friend Clare's house and we had some drinks. Thought it was going to be quiet night but we ended up partying away and went to this club called Mirage in Surrey (the Port Adelaide of Vancouver). Was really fun and we had a good night. Got home a bit late though and didn't get much sleep. Was very tired at work yesterday! But it was worth it!

Yesterday after work, I just went down to Kitsilano beach and hung out with some friends (Isamu and Antony). It has been beautiful weather over the past 4 days. About 15C everyday and sunny! That's really warm here. Only like winter weather in Adelaide! Awww, we've got it soo good in Oz. That was fun. We just went back to Isamu's house and watched a DVD.

So all in all, it was a very big weekend and I didn't get many chores done but that's what tonight it for! Gotta get out there and enjoy the sun while it lasts in Vancouver. Doesn't stay around for long!

Nicky's B'day (Easter)

Hey

Well, my b'day proved to be lots of fun on Thursday (April 13th)! We (Clare, Jimmy, Leon and I) went to this place called Macaroni Grill where they give you a big piece of paper as a tablecloth and you can draw all over it with crayons! Woohoo! The boyz took the piece of paper home and it now decorates their very bare loungeroom wall. What a fine piece of artwork it is! Dinner was nice and we had some drinks there. I learnt afterwards though that if they know it's your birthday, then they sing Happy Birthday to you opera style! Obviously we forgot to tell them. I had a chicken parmi which I haven't had since I left Australia! They don't do schnitzels here! :( Very much to my disgust! Then it was off to the Roxy for more bevvies and to watch the hockey! Vancouver lost therefore are not in the finals this year. Very disappointing as they did very well all year but they just couldn't perform when it counted. We proceeded to get very merry. Guess who was in the Roxy! ROBIN WILLIAMS! He was hammered! They boyz went up to shake his hand but he brushed them off! Therefore we all hate Robin Williams now! I think I woud've done the same if I had two drunken Aussie blokes come up to me! I think he's in Vancouver filming his new movie. Lots of films are made in Vancouver as it is a lot cheaper here to make them than in the US. You always see film crews on the streets. Some scenes from the show Supernatural were shot in the lobby of my apartment building! There's always lots of celebs floating around the place. We took some awesome photos that night but Clare's camera swiped them from her memory card! Sorry, no drunken photos to show this time! Probably a good thing. I'm sure we'll be getting some soon for ya!

The rest of the weekend was fun. Just involved more drinking on Friday night, movies on Sat night (saw Ice Age 2, very funny). Sunday, we all went over to Clare's house for a Sunday night roast (good work Clare)! Yesterday, just went out to lunch with my girlfriend Gia and we went for a walk down the beach here (English Bay). So all in all, it was a busy weekend. Hope you all had a good one too! Very jealous of the ppl who went to Oakbank!

Take care and I'll update you soon.

Luv Nic

Woohoo! It's Friday! "I can't wait for the weekend to begin!" Well, it's already started in Saturday. The weather has been nice here. 15C and sunny! That's hot here! Anyday it doesn't rain here is a good day! Just going out with my friends this weekend. They consist of some British birds, some Aussie blokes and some local Canadians. I'm sure there's going to some drinking happening. I'll have one for you all. You better have one for me next week as it's my b'day on the 13th. For those of you who forgot!

Big congratulations to my best friend Jacki who got married today (8th in Australia). Congrats to her and Adrian! Sorry I can't be there to celebrate with you. Hope you had an awesome day!

The Mighty Mount Everest!

Me with the famous mountain behind me.

My car buddies. Our fab driver (can't remember his name), Carol, Sandra and Aussie Mike! The roads were terrible. We were four wheel driving the whole time. I even got car sick which I never do!

My fantastic group!

They give all the tents famous names. There was one called the Taj Mahal as well. "Welcome to the Hotel California. Such a lovely place...................."

The boyz celebrating being at Base Camp. John, Simon & Puskar. The two on the left were right ol' alcoholics! They were English! Couldn't expect much more!

Post office at Base Camp. I was shocked that they had one up there! Nevertheless, it isn't very good. I sent about ten postcards from there so they could all have a Base Camp stamp on them but they got lost in the mail! That's China post for you!

My wonderful tour guide, Puskar.

Inside the tents at Base Camp. They serve you an awesome hot chocolate. It is needed. It's very cold up there!

Me and my pet Yaks, Ren & Stimpy!

Some of the awesome group I travelled with! Hello to all from my group if you're checking out the pics!

My lovely roomies! Carol (NZ) & Sandra (Switzerland).

Me and the Base Camp sign.

This is what Base Camp looks like. Just a bunch of tents on a mountain.

Me again. This was the only time I had to wear my cold weather stuff. Everyone on my trip bought so much cold weather gear but it was 30C every day!

Yeah, we made it to Base Camp!

Mt Everest at sunset. Aaagghh!

Here is the most famous mountain in the world!
